The Cannabis Act review: what's on the table

The Cannabis Act came with a promise to review it after a few years. That review has now reported back, and it’s worth knowing what’s being debated, because some of it could touch what’s on shelves.

What’s being looked at

• The 10 mg edible cap. Critics argue it pushes experienced users back to the legacy market; others say it protects newcomers. It’s the most-discussed number in the whole file.
• Potency and product rules. Whether high-THC limits, labelling, and promotion rules are striking the right balance.
• Medical access. How the separate medical stream should work alongside the recreational market.
• Social equity. Whether legalization has done enough for the communities most affected by prohibition.

What probably isn’t changing

The big one is settled: legalization itself isn’t up for debate. The framework, provincial retail, an age limit, a legal supply chain, is staying. This is tuning, not tearing down.

Why it matters to you
